The Inspiration Behind the Keepsake
Late at night, when everything is quiet, my mind is the busiest. That’s when new ideas for my designs tend to take shape. This particular keepsake started as a fleeting thought in December 2024 while I was trying to fall asleep. I kept visualising how I could create a meaningful and personalised paper wedding anniversary gift - something that would capture the essence of love and commitment in a truly special way.
From Imagination to Planning
Before I start working on a piece, I always imagine it in my mind first. I picture the details, consider which photograph to use, and think about how to bring all the elements together. Sometimes, I overthink things, delaying the process. But once I start, I realise I should have trusted my instinct from the beginning. With this keepsake, I envisioned a combination of photographs, meaningful quotes, and small handcrafted details to make it truly unique.
Searching for the Perfect Quote
A paper wedding anniversary is all about celebrating love and togetherness, so finding the right quote was crucial. After searching for inspiration, I chose a beautiful quote by Audrey Hepburn: “The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.” This timeless sentiment perfectly encapsulates the meaning of a wedding anniversary and became a key feature in the design.
Designing and Adding Personal Touches
Once the concept was clear, I started working on the design. I carefully edited the chosen photographs - one featuring a heart-shaped personalised photo placed over a background of tulips with wedding rings. I also included a delicate illustration of an angel aiming at a heart and an I ❤️ U detail to emphasise the romantic theme.
The Printing and Assembly Process
After finalising the digital design, it was time to bring the keepsake to life. Initially, I thought about using a metal binding to connect the photos, but after experimenting, I realised that a craft ribbon added a softer, more elegant touch. The finishing details are always the most exciting part - this keepsake features a handmade bow with a wooden heart, an I love you text, and a charming sticker of a couple where the man holds balloons, symbolising love and celebration.

From ribbons and wooden hearts to the delicate touches that make it special, these are the essentials that make the design truly unique.
Constantly Evolving the Design
One thing I’ve learned from my creative process is that a design is never truly finished until I’m completely satisfied with it. I continue refining and adjusting little details until no more ideas come to mind. I recently considered adding a yellow ribbon to the bow for an extra pop of colour and incorporating a 3D effect on the personalised heart photo to make it stand out even more.
